Tas: Kons resigns after misleading Tasmanian parliament=4

State Liberal leader Will Hodgman said Mr Lennon was "dragging Tasmania's name through
the mud", adding the premier had proved he was "incapable of ... good governance".

"When will Premier Lennon wake up to the fact that Tasmanians deserve better standards
of governance than this? Mr Lennon didn't even sack Mr Kons - he offered his resignation,
although we don't know exactly when," Mr Hodgman said.

"Mr Lennon today continued his blatant evasion of simple questions that go to his knowledge
of the aborted appointment of Mr Cooper as magistrate, and the role that his former departmental
secretary played in that.

"Yesterday, Mr Lennon also pointedly evaded simple questions of detail about this matter.

"If the premier thinks he can avoid the same fate by simply avoiding answering the
questions, then he is wrong.

"Not even the loss of two deputy premiers, to unprecedented integrity scandals, seems
to have awoken the premier to the fact that he and his government are dragging Tasmania's
name through the mud."
