NSW: Greens lodge ICAC complaint over donations from developers

The New South Wales Greens want the Independent Commission Against Corruption to investigate
donations made by developers to the state Labor Party.

The Greens claim Labor in New South Wales has received almost nine million dollars
in political donations from developers .. since 1998.

The Greens' 53-page ICAC complaint focuses on decisions made by the state government
about a controversial development at Sandon Point .. near Wollongong.

JILL MERRIN .. the Greens candidate for the seat of Heathcote .. says accepting money
from developers amounts to nothing less than corruption.

Ms MERRIN says it sends a message to the community .. that if you want to influence
government behaviour and decision making in this state .. then pay up.







Planning Minister FRANK SARTOR has announced today he's approved a scaled-back plan
for a 153 million dollar housing and elderly care development at Sandon Point.

Mr SARTOR says the plan's been significantly modified .. to make sure future development
on the site is more sympathetic to the local environment.
